Extraction from the flow of time Moments sit as grains of sand And voices whisper in the wind In this world where no one cries Soon so few will have a name The cities empty, the buildings fell Corpses engaged in a parade Will wear a smile forever Think how photographs will be around long after we’ve died A history of newspaper clippings and faded negatives Packed in boxes Laying in the basements and the attics of our kin Count the hours that I spent Trying to organize this pile of rocks Til my hands bleed I built this box so I would never sleep I cannot be held down No I can never stop These flawless pages will deceive and only satisfy The appetites of vultures A sea of disappointed faces celebrate Every birthday and anniversary Assume that books you’ve never read Hold nothing or secrets it’s all the same Maybe just what you’re looking for Is right outside your window When you’re driving late at night Or staring straight into the sun The luxury of having eyes no matter what they see Sit crossed legged on the floor Hands rest in your lap And hear the walls complain about their lives The counterweight seized by the very mechanism built to Keep in place the pages meant to hold the ordinary Creatures of dead loved ones smile at you Despite your suffering How could they laugh While you drink yourself to sleep again tonight

Imagine a child, body laced with blue line stitches Your hand carved marble vertebrae Designed to hind the true collector Knuckles white from the beliefs you grasp Please save us from the need to be saved This fire it still won’t burn Institution Desire defines yourself Lay in the ashes of complacency You are drowning You are screaming This is my life How can vectors still exist When the street signs tell lies And the street signs are still lying My time has passed and you’re acting like I should have known The coil and the raven stare and all that I ask is Can we wait until the winter Still they stare Replaying the tapes until the heads have been magnetized Function is reasoning, switch off device Let the fuel fall, founded hard to stop this process While gears turn at full steam When fire consumes flesh, it’s the heart that’s the last to burn It’s a long way from here to our graves With so many wonderful things on the way You’re obsessed with this collection of frames We’ll burn them all for the eulogy

about

Change Methodical Edmonton, Alberta

Change Methodical debuted in 2000 bridging the gap between the established technical skatepunk
of the late 90s with the emerging screamo/post hardcore sound of the early 00s. Winding, unpredictable songs filled with fury and emotion brought them to the forefront of the diy punk scene in Alberta until their disbandment in 2010. ... more
